Assistant City Superintendent
Position: Assistant City Superintendent
Wage: $60,000/year

Accountable to: City Superintendent and Mayor
Primary Objective of Position:
- Following direction from the current City Superintendent, Mayor, and City Council
- Plans, directs, and coordinates a comprehensive public works program designed to assure services are being provided at the highest level.
- Recommends overall goals for the operations.
- Administers and supervises operation of:
- water and wastewater utilities,
- solid waste collection and disposal,
- streets, parks, and city facilities.
- Be able to take over the position of City Superintendent after training period.
Essential Job Functions:
- Must possess the ability to analyze, evaluate, write, and understand budgets.
- Monitor construction and maintenance Projects.
- Physical requirements include some bending, stooping, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs. May perform work in conditions of heat, cold and dampness.
- Responsible for the overall supervision and direction of the Public Works Department
Education, Training, and Experience:
- Graduation from High School preferably with some college and/or advanced courses of study in the areas of engineering, management, or similar fields.
- Six years of progressively responsible public works experience which could include water and wastewater system, involving the management of materials, personnel, budgets and purchasing
- Survey and engineering experience desirable
- Must possess a valid Montana Operators License
- Must be able to obtain Class II Water Distribution, Class I Water Treatment, and Class I Wastewater Treatment Certification within 2 years of hire date.
