The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Pritzker Department of Child and Adolescent of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, seek a full-time non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This position is intended for a child and adolescent psychiatrist who will join a multidisciplinary child and adolescent psychiatry department in a nationally ranked, freestanding children's hospital located on the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine campus.

The Medical Director will be responsible for further developing and overseeing the programs that support children in psychiatric care across the medical services in hospital. This recruit's clinical responsibilities will primarily be within the emergency department and patients receiving psychiatric care on medical units. Tasks will include patient care but also acting as the point person for coordinating the flow of patients in need of psychiatric care at Lurie Children's including transfers from outside hospitals/agencies, patients in the emergency department, patients with complex medical problems and psychiatric needs, patients with primary psychiatric needs residing on medical floors and further developing and supervising the psychiatry behavior response team. Other tasks will include assisting of transitioning patients from the ED to medical and psychiatric services and transitioning patients from the ED and medical units to home or other settings. The recruit will work with several multidisciplinary teams (Psychologists, Med/Psych SW, Psych RN, ED RN/Attendings, Floor RN/Attendings) in providing care to psychiatric patients across the spectrum of care. The recruit will participate in teaching responsibilities for McGaw fellows and residents as well as for trainees across disciplines. Scholarly activity is also expected.
Qualified candidates will have experience and have excelled in teaching and a commitment to participating in an academic medical center environment. Crisis evaluation and treatment experience (ideally pediatric hospital-based) and board certified or eligible in child and adolescent psychiatry required. Fluency in Spanish would be a plus. Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States and licensure in Illinois. Licensure in Illinois and Lurie Children's medical staff membership are required before starting work.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Full-time position.
