The University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs’ Center for Governance and Markets (CGM) is seeking an Administrator to support the Center’s operations, programming, and activities.

Reporting to the Center’s Assistant Director, the Administrator will be responsible for supporting all day-to-day operations. The person in this role will be involved in all aspects of the Center’s activities, including but not limited to supporting the successful execution on all research projects, programmatic activities and events (e.g., conferences, workshops, seminars, speaker series, etc.), procurement and purchasing, travel coordination and expense reporting, and other related financial activities such as expenditure and budget monitoring. Will support communication efforts, including website management, and will oversee logistics for events. Incumbent will play an important role in supporting visiting research scholars and supporting other Center staff and leadership.

An Associate Degree and at least 3 years of prior administrative experience is required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Additionally, this position requires a highly organized, self-starter who operates with a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism and accuracy, and manages multiple deadlines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate problem-solving skills, the ability to thrive in a team environment, and will be comfortable interacting with individuals from various backgrounds. The candidate should also share a passion for the mission of the center, which is to explore the way people come together to solve problems.

This position is 100% funded by non-University funds.


Job Summary

Performs administrative assistant support work of moderate complexity.


Essential Functions

Position will be tasked with supporting operational efforts within the center, requiring excellent customer service skills, the ability to interact professionally with diverse audiences, strong computer and phone skills, and strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational skills, including ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects at once. Ability to follow established policy and procedure guidelines. Will monitor expenditures and budgets, and oversee procurement, purchasing, and travel expenses.


Physical Effort

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally. May be required to travel around campus for events, meetings, etc.
