Assistant Professor/Wind Ensemble and Orchestra Director
The Music Department at UWL seeks applicants for a tenure track Director of the Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. This position is responsible for coordinating and directing the UWL Wind Ensemble, the University/ Community Orchestra, the Concert Band, and teaching conducting. Other duties may be assigned as needed or to the candidate’s abilities, such as applied instruction. The applicant should also convey a commitment to supporting the recruitment of music majors for the program and serving on relevant department committees. Teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester.
Required Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in Music from an accredited university; ABD will be considered. The degree must be earned by the personnel review held in the spring of the first year.
- Knowledge of the wind and orchestra repertory appropriate to a university-level program with a minimum of two years of conducting experience at the collegiate level (beyond assistantships).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Conducting experiences with both wind ensemble and orchestra.
- Experience in teaching courses at the college level.
- Experience in teaching instrumental conducting.
- Demonstrated success in recruiting.
