Title: Sonographer - Maternal Fetal Medicine
Schedule: Full-Time
Location: Arlington, VA
Purpose and Scope:
The full-time Sonographer will perform a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment for prenatal diagnosis. Demonstrating ingenuity and initiative in the application of non-ionizing high frequency ultrasonic waves for prenatal diagnosis.

Education:
- Graduate of an accredited sonography program, and registered through the ARDMS in at least OBGYN
- BLS and CPR Certification from the American Heart Association
Experience:
- Minimum two years of experience as a diagnostic sonographer is required
- Preferred Nuchal Translucency and Fetal Echo certified
- Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition and has required supplies readily available for procedures
- Ability to work with female patients
- Proficiency performing routine procedures utilizing stationary and portable equipment
- Knowledge of sterile techniques used for invasive procedures
- Knowledge of M-Mode, pulse and color Doppler as well as real time techniques
- Conforms to the ALARA principle, minimizing patient exposure

- Interact with administrative staff, nursing staff, genetic counselors and maternal-fetal medicine specialists in a manner that promotes continuity of patient care
- Responds appropriately to emergency situations within the office, including threats to patient and staff safety
- Prepare patients; collect relevant clinical information for completion of accurate procedures
- Works with ultrasound manager and staff to keep an adequate level of supplies; following infection control guidelines
- Responsible and careful use of equipment, placing tickets with biomedical engineer and notifying sonographer manager when service is required
- Perform proper high-level disinfection of endovaginal probes using Trophon systems
- Participate in maintenance of AIUM accreditation
- Attend and participate in mandatory departmental meetings
- Participate in mentoring and instruction to sonography students enrolled in local DMS program
