ABOUT THE ROLE:
University Counseling Services invites applications for the position of Triage Clinician. We are a dynamic center committed to promoting diversity and inclusion and invite applicants who share similar values. This position acts as a screener for risk and must be knowledgeable in determining appropriate modalities of care such as individual, group, couples counseling and assessment. The Triage Clinician also has the following responsibilities:
OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE:
Build rapport with a diverse community of providers
Conduct triage intake assessments
Provide crisis coverage
Provide case management and referral support
Provide brief individual therapy
Ability to effectively evaluate risk level of incoming students
Provide outreach to the VCU Community
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary counseling center team
Ability to handle complex crises and/or clinical situations (including suicide risk
assessments)
Ability to work independently
A demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice
Understanding of and commitment to diversity issues in the delivery of services
Keen relationship manager and interpersonal skills
Strong written and oral communication; effective presenter
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed as a Social Worker or Professional Counselor
We seek someone who is collaborative in nature, practices good self-care, and possesses the ability to manage a challenging workload while promoting a positive atmosphere and healthy relationships.
UNIVERSITY DESCRIPTION
VCU is a public, urban university of over 30,000 students located on two campuses in the capital city of Richmond, VA. University Counseling Services has an APA-accredited doctoral internship training program. The multidisciplinary staff of UCS includes full -time clinicians from the fields of psychology and social work.
