The Office of Sustainability serves as a hub for campus sustainability at Wake Forest, connecting leaders and practitioners with resources to meet the University's commitment to our motto Pro Humanitate. As a member of a nimble and committed team of sustainability professionals, the Engaged and Experiential Learning for Sustainability Manager facilitates opportunities for faculty of all ranks and disciplines to develop campus-based multi- and interdisciplinary problem-based experiential learning experiences.
Through an annual sustainability-across-the curriculum workshop and facilitation of an ongoing community of teacher-scholar-learners, the Manager enhances opportunities for faculty to develop high impact experiences for sustainability, more broadly.
The Manager connects faculty, students, and campus partners to sustainability challenges on campus, with the goal of fostering complex systems thinking and interdisciplinary problem solving. Campus partners include Facilities and Campus Services, Transportation and Parking Services, Deacon Dining, Reynolda Historic District, and other stakeholders. Through working at the intersection of operational, educational, and research activities, this position helps drive the advancement of the university's strategic initiatives.

Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Supports and grows a network of faculty across the disciplines on the development of a range of sustainability learning engagements, including guest lectures, campus tours, and problem-based learning experiences.
- Convenes thematic learning communities that support sustainability education across the curriculum, including but not limited to the annual Magnolias Curriculum Project and related project alumni gatherings, interdisciplinary cohorts focused on contemporary sustainability challenges or themes, and department/discipline-specific cohorts.
- Maintains a record of engaged-learning projects and program metrics.
- Performs regular assessments to evaluate the program's impact and opportunities for continuous improvement
- Assists with the implementation of and reporting on the Office of Sustainability's Strategic Plan.
- Collaborates with campus departments where engaged learning for sustainability intersects with topics including but not limited to civic engagement, climate justice, wellbeing, and mindfulness.
- Collaborates with the Outdoor Learning Spaces Manager in the Office of Sustainability and a broad network of university staff to create sustainability tours, undergraduate research projects, and citizen science projects on Wake Forest's campuses, including at the University's gardens, Reynolda Historic District, and campus spaces and features like the campus trees, stormwater areas, and other demonstration sites for sustainability and climate resilience/adaptation.
- Collaborates with the Center for the Advancement of Teaching to support sound pedagogical approaches to engaged and experiential learning, as well as high impact experiences like the First Year Seminar.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of direct experience in a sustainability-related field or a combination of experience and a relevant advanced degree.
- Demonstrated interest in and advocacy for sustainability-related issues.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, with attention to detail.
- Ability to use discretion in managing confidential information.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize and organize workflow, and coordinate activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with faculty, staff, administrators, and students.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work beyond the standard workday, including nights and weekends, for deadlines, educational and outreach programs, and special events.
- Familiarity with problem-based learning and/or faculty development.
- Relates well with faculty and understands their various teaching needs and objectives.
- Ability to effectively facilitate workshops for departments and other groups of faculty.
- Experience in a university setting.
- Experience with pedagogy and curriculum development in higher education
- Responsible for own work.
- May supervise student employees, as needed.
